The original Beile (Lord in Manchu), also known as the "Banner Lords" and "Iron-Headed Princes", were the sons of Nurgaci, founder of the Qing Dynasty. After his death, Beile Hong Taiji was chosen as Khan. Paul Chen's Beile Dao commemorates this prince. Its beautifully detailed iron furniture complements the Damascus blade pattern and the ray-skin covered scabbard adds to the sword's rugged richness.
